Every day and where ever we go: be it to your work, a shopping spree, a party, or on the bridge on your way home. There are millions of microorganisms i.e. grime, fungi and viruses that are present every where around us and undetectable by the human eye. These organisms are untiringly working themselves up to enter the human body. Once they succeed in invading into the human system they can speedily multiply themselves. They can even spread very easily by transferring themselves from one body to the other. Generally our immune system won’t let these microorganisms invade the human body. It does so by fighting them off at various levels of immune response be it by forbidding them from entering the body through protective stimuli such as skin, sweat etc. And in the other case if they succeed to break into the immune response, then by producing special cells to eradicate grime. But what if the immune system is not working as it should be? And the harmful microorganisms are able to breach each layer of the immune response system, then your immune system is faced by a disorder. Science has categorized the problems of the immune system into various categories. This categorization is done on basis of the severity and nature of the problem. Primary or secondary problems, autoimmune disorders, allergic disorders and cancers of the immune system are all the classes of immune problems. Each of them harms the immune system in a different way and the immune system in return responds differently to each one. An immunodeficiency disorder is the scientific name for the primary or secondary problems. Primary immunodeficiency can keep itself hidden until a person encounters a disease. A person might have been born with such a disorder i.e. when some part of the immune response does not function as it should. Secondary immunodeficiency crops up as a result of a medical problem; burn, bruise, allergy or the adverse affects of a medication can also cause such a problem. Autoimmune disorders seem juvenile. Such a disorder occurs as the misjudgment of the immune system. It considers the body’s healthy organs as the foreign microorganisms which are trying to invade the human body for destructive purposes and thus destroys them by attacking them. There are antigens i.e. a substance which helps the immune system produce antibodies against a disease. These antigens are widely present in the environment around us. And there are times the immune response over reacts to their exposure as a result causing swelling, sneezing and watery eyes. Such a disorder of the immune system is called an allergic disorder. Cancers of the immune system by far are the worst problems the immune system can face. None of the problems with the immune system can be completely prevented. Specifically these cancers which result as the overgrowth of the cells cannot be thwarted. When the cells start to overgrow and it gets impossible to control them, the state is known as the cancer of the immune system, some of which if detected at an early stage can be cured thankfully.
