Immune Boost (General)

Immune Boost (General)

The human immune system is a complicated machine. It is very difficult to talk about without at least simplifying some of the issues. Hence, even here in the first sentence, referring to the immune system as a “machine”. To build such a complicated machine outside the human body would take a lot of time and cost a lot of money. It is for this reason that illnesses such as HIV and AIDS are so dangerous. The body’s natural defences against illness are themselves attacked by a highly sophisticated virus that hits the body so hard that in the end many sufferers end up dying from an infection that, in normal circumstances, would be fought off by a working immune system.

Controlling and fighting illness is largely dependent upon a strong, rallying immune system that will take the challenge head-on and fight off any damaging foreign bodies inside the human system. If a wasp or a similar pest bothers a human, they will generally try to bat it away. If attacked by another human, frequently the instinct will be to fight him or her off using physical strength and self-defence techniques. However, if the body comes under attack from within, it is down to the immune system to fight it. In such a case, you cannot just sit there and flex your immune system. It is unseen, complicated and not connected to any specific part of the body. What is required is a long-term system of immunity building.

The best ways to boost immunity, for a human, are to eat a varied, nutrient packed diet and to get a suitable amount of sleep. Exercise is also important, as the body needs to be put through tests in order to be ready for them when they come around. In the past, people would often become recluses when they realised that illness could be communicable, avoiding contact with other humans to protect themselves from contagious infections. These same people often died from something highly preventable and generally non-lethal, because they had not allowed their bodies to have exposure to germs and pathogens which – given a chance – they would have fought off without any fuss. So human contact is very much advised if you wish to build a strong immune system.

There are also vitamin supplements that a person can take to boost their immune system. These supplements should never take the place of nature’s own solutions – exercise, diet and rest – because there is no substitute for the defences produced by the human body. What they can do, however, is top up the defences already in place, and put at bay any lingering deficiencies. If you think of them as reserves called up by the body to help crush an opponent, then you will get something of the right impression. In its most basic form, the message is to use all of the means at your disposal to build up a strong and healthy defence system, thus always staying one step ahead of the infections.
